Leadership Capacity Building Programme Organized to Educate people on Health Issues.

Mumbai: The MPJ, Maharashtra organized a leadership capacity building programme here on 9th August, 2015. This programme was organized to train its cadres on the issue of health, as the organization prepares to launch a drive on health. The issue under discussion was Health infrastructure of the state. Ms. Indavi Tulpule a renowned social activist and leader of Shramik Mukti Sangathna addressed the training session and shared vital and very useful information regarding the state of health of the Maharashtra. Later, the executive committee of the MPJ decided to launch a 6 week long statewide health campaign from September 1, 2015. The objects of the campaign are to create awareness among common man to demand his/her rights of health available to them under various legal enactments and welfare schemes of the government of Maharashtra as well as Central Government and make a general survey of the government health facilities. The MPJ also resolved to strengthen the health infrastructure of the state especially PHC, as this is the point where preventive measures can be taken to avoid serious and fatal diseases. The members of the board unanimously declared that, there is urgent need to make the primary health infrastructure more functional and accountable.

While addressing the training session, Ms. Tulpule said that, the condition of government run hospitals is not very good. Several hospitals from PHC to district levels lack even basic infrastructure, prescribed by the central government under its various health policies and schemes. Our officials lack will power in implementing the health policies devised by the central government, she added.
